Dangerous Ash Removal Puddington

The lads were on a cracking job last week removing this dangerous Ash tree. The tree which was leaning towards and within striking distance of a barn conversion had a vast amount of die back in the crown, was riddled with cavities and cankers caused by the fungus Inonotus hispidus, as well as a large amount of brown rot in the base and a huge crack up the stem. The tree had to be tackled as an emergency job as the crack was opening and closing in the breeze and would likely fail at any moment.
The compromised stem was ratchet strapped together to provide some support, whilst Ed cautiously climbed into the canopy. Once he had established a safe (as possible) anchor point he began carefully crashing out the crown in large sections into the paddock below until the stem could finally be winched back into the garden.
It's always a shame to see big trees go but even more so when they're in this condition. Trees that are in a poor state actually provide far more diverse habitat than those that are healthy with cavities and decay providing the perfect niche environment for all kinds of wonderful flora and fauna.
